According to China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China's refined copper production in April reached 1.136 million tons, a 9.2% increase compared to the same month last year.

However, production slightly decreased from March as seven smelters underwent maintenance in April, but the decrease was less than expected due to an increase in secondary production. According to SMM, more smelters are scheduled for maintenance in May, likely leading to a further decrease in production compared to April.

Additionally, zinc production decreased by 0.8% year-on-year to 586,000 tons due to routine maintenance at smelters in regions such as Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Gansu. Lead production increased by 1.1% to 657,000 tons, with refined lead production decreasing due to maintenance at smelters in Hunan and Yunnan, but recycled lead production increased.
