IperionX and Aperam Enhance Titanium Partnership

IperionX

IperionX, a titanium manufacturer based in the United States, and Aperam, a Luxembourg-based specialty metals producer operating through its US subsidiary, are intensifying their efforts to establish a self-sustaining domestic titanium supply chain.

Under their recent agreement, Aperam's ELG Utica Alloys will supply IperionX with 12 metric tonnes of titanium scrap sourced from consumer electronics and technology hardware sectors. IperionX will meticulously assess the scrap, providing ELG with comprehensive reports detailing its quality and material characteristics.

In the initial phase of the trial program, IperionX will transform 1 ton of titanium scrap into titanium powder, which will then be used to manufacture various semi-finished products, including near-net shapes, in the subsequent phase. The remaining 11 tonnes will be securely stored for future use, contingent upon a forthcoming agreement. Should such an agreement not materialize, IperionX will return the scrap to ELG.

Upon the completion of each trial phase, IperionX will invoice ELG $150,000. The agreement is slated to remain in effect until June 30, 2026, unless terminated by either party.

This collaboration builds upon their initial agreement in July 2023, where ELG supplied IperionX with 10 tonnes of titanium scrap for $60,000. Discussions are ongoing for a comprehensive, long-term supply and processing arrangement, with ELG proposing to supply IperionX with 12 tonnes of titanium scrap monthly, while also serving as a toll processor for titanium scrap sourced independently by IperionX.
