OnPath Energy, a leading renewable energy developer, has inaugurated its new Sunderland headquarters with ambitious plans to invest £1 billion in clean energy projects across the UK over the next five years.
Major Milestone for OnPath Energy
Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson MP officially opened the new headquarters at Chase House, Rainton Bridge Business Park, located within her constituency of Houghton and Sunderland South. The event highlighted OnPath’s commitment to advancing the UK’s net-zero agenda, creating skilled jobs, and fostering community development.
Richard Dunkley, CEO of OnPath Energy, emphasized the company’s focus on expanding renewable infrastructure. “We aim to invest around £1 billion over the next five years, creating hundreds of green jobs and advancing the UK's energy transition. Our OnPath Together approach prioritizes community benefits and shared ownership, ensuring a fair and inclusive energy future,” he stated.
Job Creation and Local Impact
OnPath has already created over 30 jobs in the past year and plans to add more in 2025. The company collaborates closely with Sunderland City Council and local stakeholders, enhancing the region’s dynamic business ecosystem. Cllr Michael Mordey, leader of Sunderland City Council, praised OnPath’s responsible approach, noting its commitment to local employment and supply chains.
A Vision for a Sustainable Future
Following its acquisition by Brookfield Asset Management in late 2023, OnPath Energy has expanded its portfolio to include onshore wind, solar, and energy storage projects. The company currently operates ten onshore wind farms across Scotland and northern England, with plans for further developments in 2024.
Dunkley underscored the broader impact of these investments, which aim to reduce consumer energy bills, enhance the UK’s energy security, and ensure a just transition to renewable energy. OnPath Energy’s relocation and expansion in Sunderland mark a significant step toward achieving the UK’s environmental and energy goals, reinforcing its position as a leader in renewable energy innovation.
