Strategic Licensing Agreements with Mel Metal LLC
Houston-based Ace Green Recycling Inc. has signed two major agreements to license its proprietary Greenlead technology and battery recycling equipment to Mel Metal LLC, a leading Armenian nonferrous scrap recycler. The agreements will enable the hydrometallurgical recycling of lead batteries and the development of lithium battery recycling capabilities in Armenia and neighboring Georgia.
A Springboard for Regional and European Expansion
Armenia’s strategic location in the southern Caucasus positions it as a gateway for deploying Ace’s sustainable battery recycling solutions into Georgia and critical European markets. Through this collaboration, Ace aims to strengthen the lead and lithium battery value chain while promoting environmentally responsible battery material recovery.
Hydrometallurgical Lead Recycling and Lithium Processing
Under the 15-year lead battery recycling agreement, Ace will supply Mel Metal with specialized hydrometallurgical recycling machinery capable of processing 6,000 metric tons of lead batteries annually, with options for expansion. Ace will also generate revenue through the sale of proprietary chemical solutions and licensing of its Greenlead trademark. Lead recycling operations are set to commence in Q3 2025.
Additionally, Ace will provide and license its lithium battery discharging and shredding equipment to Mel Metal, supporting the company’s lithium-ion battery recycling operations, also expected to start in Q3 2025.
Commitment to Green Recycling and Circular Economy
Mel Metal’s parent company, Edmet, emphasized the environmental benefits of Ace’s zero-emission hydrometallurgical recycling process, which replaces traditional high-emission smelting techniques. Armen Hayrapetyan, chairman of Edmet, stated that the adoption of Ace’s sustainable recycling technology will significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, recover plastics, and minimize landfill waste.
Ace’s co-founder and CEO Nishchay Chadha praised Mel Metal as a first-mover in green recycling in Armenia. He highlighted that without Ace’s technology, scrap battery material would either be exported or processed through pollutive pyrometallurgical methods. The agreements align with Ace’s broader strategy to expand its modular and sustainable recycling solutions globally.
