Revolutionizing Metal Manufacturing with Portable and Self-Sufficient Technology
ADDiTEC has launched the AMDROiD X Laser Directed Energy Deposition (DED) system at the MILAM 2025 trade event in Tampa, Florida. Designed for the defence, construction, energy, and emergency response sectors, the system offers a modular, portable solution for point-of-demand metal manufacturing and repair.
Innovative Features and Capabilities
The AMDROiD X is housed in a 10-foot container that expands to 169 square feet and integrates a command center for seamless operation in harsh conditions. Its built-in nitrogen generator eliminates the need for external shielding gas in most applications, increasing efficiency and reducing operational costs.
With a robust power system, the AMDROiD X incorporates 54 kWh of energy storage across four power walls, which can be fully recharged using solar technology. This makes it an ideal solution for remote and off-grid environments. Additionally, the system supports complex multi-axis geometries through proprietary software tools.
The AMDROiD X is equipped with an optional Ultra High Power 12 kW fiber laser and can process a range of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. Key specifications include:
- Print speeds of up to 4 kg/hr
- A build volume of 1.4 x 1.4 x 1.47 meters
- Layer thickness capacity ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 mm
Strategic Partnerships and Industry Impact
ADDiTEC has partnered with Siemens and ABB for robotic integration, utilizing its own ADDiTEC Builder software for advanced robotic motion control. The system’s adaptability and rapid deployment capabilities make it a valuable asset across multiple industries.
Brian Matthews, CEO of ADDiTEC, emphasized the strategic advantages of the new system: “The AMDROiD X is a point-of-demand tailored for the defence sector, unique in the market. Its advanced features, adaptability, and rapid deployment capabilities address critical needs across diverse industries. This is a self-efficient machine, designed to operate independently with minimal external resources, making it invaluable in remote and off-grid environments.”
With its cutting-edge technology and industry-leading partnerships, the AMDROiD X is set to transform metal manufacturing, offering unmatched efficiency and flexibility for mission-critical applications.
