Industrial Asset Sale Amid Market Challenges

Polish steel group Alchemia S.A. has appointed KRUDO Industrial B.V., a Dutch industrial consulting firm, to oversee the sale of its Rurexpol seamless pipe plant in Częstochowa, Poland. The sale includes production equipment, real estate, and the entire plant territory, offering potential buyers a fully integrated manufacturing facility with certified production capabilities and direct market access.

Key Assets and Production Capabilities

The Rurexpol plant specializes in manufacturing seamless pipes up to 273 mm in diameter, catering to oil and gas, construction, engineering, and critical infrastructure sectors. The facility is equipped with:

  • Two modernized rotary furnaces
  • Rolling piling machines
  • Ultrasonic and hydrostatic testing equipment
  • State-of-the-art heat treatment furnaces
  • API threading stations with advanced surface treatment technology

Despite the plant’s suspension in February 2025, National Section of Metallurgists “Solidarność” confirmed that it remains in full operational readiness and could resume production swiftly if raw materials become available.

Alchemia’s Restructuring Strategy

Alchemia announced the liquidation of Rurexpol in November 2024, citing increasing difficulties in competing within the European steel market. The sale aligns with the company’s broader efforts to restructure and optimize operations in response to industry shifts.

According to KRUDO Industrial Managing Director Martin Kolodziejczyk, acquiring the Rurexpol plant represents a strategic opportunity for investors looking to strengthen their foothold in Europe’s industrial sector. KRUDO, which previously facilitated the sale of Alchemia’s Zawadzki plant, specializes in handling full-scale industrial asset transactions across various sectors.

With the European metallurgy sector facing mounting challenges, the fate of Rurexpol’s high-precision seamless pipe production now depends on attracting a suitable buyer.
