NRL Star Trades Footy Boots for Steel Caps in Bravus Mining Partnership

North Queensland Cowboys co-captain Tom Dearden recently swapped the rugby field for the mining pit, experiencing firsthand the scale of operations at the Carmichael mine. The visit was part of the “Digging Coal, Kicking Goals” campaign, celebrating the Platinum Partnership between Bravus Mining and Resources and the Cowboys.

During his time on-site, Dearden sat in the trainer’s seat of a massive Caterpillar 796AC haul truck, gaining a deeper appreciation for the mining industry and its significance to regional Queensland.

“My dad worked in the mines when I was growing up, so I’ve always had a connection to the industry,” Dearden said. “Seeing how much Bravus does for the community and knowing how much the Cowboys mean to these workers makes it even more special to be involved.”

Strengthening Regional Queensland’s Community Ties

Bravus Mining and Resources has been a dedicated partner of the Cowboys since 2019, officially becoming a Platinum Partner in 2021 and expanding their support to the Cowboys’ NRLW team in 2024. The partnership highlights a shared commitment to regional Queensland, reinforcing strong community ties.

Mick Crowe, Chief Operating Officer of Bravus Mining and Resources, expressed his excitement about having Dearden engage with the workforce.

“Tom is a great ambassador for North Queensland, and many of our workers are die-hard Cowboys fans,” Crowe said. “Seeing his passion for what they do was a real thrill for our team at Carmichael.”

As the Cowboys continue to strengthen their regional connections, the collaboration with Bravus ensures continued investment in local communities, benefiting both the mining and sporting sectors in Queensland.
