Sale Supports Expansion of Battery Recycling Technologies
American Battery Technology Co. (ABTC) has announced the sale of a 12-acre property at 395 Logan Lane in Fernley, Nevada, for $6.75 million. The company, based in Reno, Nevada, expects the transaction to close on or before July 10, 2025.
ABTC specializes in the manufacturing and recycling of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The company states that proceeds from the sale will support the commercialization of its advanced LIB recycling technologies and the continued development of its recycling facility in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) in McCarran, Nevada.
“The acquisition of our industrial recycling facility at TRIC substantially accelerated the implementation of our first integrated, commercial-scale lithium-ion battery recycling operations,” said Ryan Melsert, CEO of ABTC. “The sale of one of our legacy Fernley assets will provide additional resources to execute the second phase of our advanced recycling technologies, strengthening our ability to foster the development of one of North America’s first closed-loop battery material supply chains.”
ABTC’s recycling facility uses a unique technology framework that integrates advanced de-manufacturing processes with selective hydrometallurgical methods. This feedstock-agnostic system enables the processing of various LIBs, regardless of size, shape, or chemistry. The facility’s first operational phase recovers materials such as copper, aluminum, steel, lithium intermediate, and black mass. The second phase will refine these into battery-grade nickel sulfate, cobalt sulfate, manganese sulfate, and lithium hydroxide.
The company is also assessing opportunities for its remaining real estate asset at 390 Logan Lane and its water rights holdings in Fernley.
