Veteran Materials Executive to Lead Recycled Stainless Operations in Kentucky
Spain-based Acerinox Group has appointed Clive Grannum as the new CEO of North American Stainless (NAS), its Kentucky-based subsidiary and leading producer of recycled-content stainless steel. Grannum succeeds Cristóbal Fuentes, who will step down from his executive role on May 21, 2025, after 44 years with the company.

Fuentes has served as CEO of NAS since 2010 and will remain with the organization in a senior advisory role to assist with the transition.

Clive Grannum Brings Extensive Materials Industry Experience

Grannum joins NAS from Materion Corporation, where he led the Performance Materials division. Materion, headquartered in Ohio, is known for its specialty alloys, beryllium-based metals, and advanced materials used in high-tech industries.

His previous leadership roles include stints at:
  • Olin Corporation, where he was president of the Global Chlorinated Organics business
  • Dow Chemical, Rohm and Haas, The BOC Group, and ICI Group
This deep executive background in chemical and materials manufacturing positions Grannum to guide NAS through its next phase of strategic growth.

Acerinox Focuses on US Integration and Strategic Goals

“We are extremely excited about this new incorporation,” said Acerinox Group CEO Bernardo Velázquez. “Clive will reinforce the integration of our operations in the United States and help implement our strategic plan.”

North American Stainless, based in Ghent, Kentucky, operates one of the most advanced stainless steel mills in the U.S., focusing on recycled stainless steel production. Grannum’s leadership is expected to bolster sustainability, operational efficiency, and market responsiveness.
