ChatGPT의 말: ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Challenges Increased Rail Tariffs Amid War-Era Struggles

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih

Ukraine’s largest steel producer, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, is raising alarms over what it describes as unjustified economic pressure from Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia). Effective April 5, 2025, the state railway increased the tariff distance by 257 km for transporting the company’s products to Odesa Commercial Sea Port, significantly raising logistics costs.

The company, which ships over 100,000 tonnes monthly to Odesa, claims the move disproportionately targets ArcelorMittal and lacks reasonable justification. Operating under wartime constraints since 2022—including energy shortages and frequent shelling—the firm sees this decision as monopolistic abuse and plans to escalate the matter to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.

Despite adversity, ArcelorMittal restarted blast furnace No. 6 in April 2025, aiming to reach 3,400 tonnes/day of pig iron. It also announced a 15% employee salary hike from May 1, 2025. In 2024, the company increased pig iron output by 42.7% (2.17Mt), steel by 69.9% (1.65Mt), and rolled steel by 72.1% (1.53Mt) compared to 2023.

With a capacity of over 6Mt of steel per year, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plays a vital role in Ukraine’s industrial resilience and recovery.
