Mineral Resources Hits Milestone with First Blast at Cardo Bore East

Mineral Resources

Mineral Resources (ASX: MIN) has reached a major development milestone at its Onslow Iron project with the first blast at the Cardo Bore East deposit in the West Pilbara region, WA. This new deposit, located 12km south of the Ken’s Bore mine site, is expected to support the project’s targeted ramp-up to 35 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of iron ore production.

A successful targeted drilling program and site preparation works are now underway, with CSI Mining Services building a private haul road to connect Cardo Bore East to the Ken’s Bore crushing and processing facility.

MinRes executive general manager Mike Tonkin hailed the achievement as a significant step forward for the project’s overall development. He emphasized the safe and efficient execution of the blast and the contribution the new deposit will make alongside current mining at Ken’s Bore.

In January, the Onslow Iron project also completed a final crushing plant and truck load-out circuit at Ken’s Bore. These modular crushers are energy-efficient and designed to reduce dust and noise emissions, underscoring MinRes’ commitment to sustainable mining operations.
